Starting with Django + mysql on windows

## Download and install python from the official site.

## Add python to PATH variable. Edit the system environment variables

Control panel > system and security > system
> Advanced system settings (on left side) > Environment variables

## Set path variable adding Python Dir

Variable path C:\Python27

## Install virtual environments

pip install virtualenv

## You can create different virtual environments

virtualenv venvname

## Now you can activate your virtual environment

venvname\Scripts\activate

## install mysql

  • Download Mysql from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/
  • Run the package

### Install Django

pip install django (django==x.x.x in case that you need some especific version)

## Python mysql driver

pip install myqsl-python

## If you have installed python < 2.7.9 you have to download this script and install pip

python get-pip.py

## If you have problems installing mysql-python there are some solutions

  • Install it from here
  • Install setup_tools.py from here
  • Download and install Visual C++ for python from here 
  • mklink /d "C:\Program Files (x86)\MySQL\MySQL Connector C 6.0.2\include" "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Connector C 6.0.2\include"
  • Try to install it outside of virtualenvironment
